Announcing the 2025 Fall LSUHSC School of Nursing & SELAHEC Fall Series!
Join us this season for an inspiring and educational journey as the LSU Health New Orleans School of Nursing partners with the Southeast Louisiana Area Health Education Center (SELAHEC) to present the 2025 Fall Series — a dynamic lineup of events designed to empower nurses and other healthcare professionals.
Fall Series Highlights Include:
Nursing Continuing Professional Development (NCPD) credits
1. Monday, November 24, 2025 (12:00 pm – 1:00 pm CST)
This presentation highlights evidence-based strategies for managing chronic pain through multimodal approaches, with a focus on patients who have a history of opioid use disorder (OUD). Nurses play a vital role in pain assessment, implementing non-opioid interventions, collaborating within interprofessional teams, and supporting patients in achieving effective pain relief while reducing the risk of relapse or dependency. The session emphasizes compassionate, patient-centered care that balances safety with quality of life.
2. Friday, December 5, 2025 (11:00 am – 1:00 pm CST)
This dynamic presentation equips new and emerging healthcare leaders with the insight and tools needed to successfully navigate the evolving landscape of nursing leadership, from frontline supervisor to director-level roles. Participants will explore the expanding scope of responsibilities, essential leadership competencies, and common challenges encountered at each stage.
Through engaging discussion and practical strategies, attendees will learn how leadership styles adapt over time, how to foster trust and resilience within teams, and how to align their approach to support patients, staff, and organizational goals. Special emphasis is placed on the foundational attributes of impactful leaders—communication, emotional intelligence, and strategic vision—preparing participants to lead with confidence, clarity, and purpose.
3. Wednesday, December 17, 2025 (12:00 pm – 1:30 pm CST)
Vaccine hesitancy among parents has emerged as a significant public health challenge, fueled by misinformation, distrust, and cultural beliefs. This presentation examines the underlying causes of parental vaccine hesitancy and offers practical, evidence-based strategies for healthcare professionals to address concerns, foster trust, and promote vaccine confidence.
